Putting a new twist on his art, as radical as Jean-Michel Basquiat’s hair-do, John Ramos immortalizes the late New York City graffiti painter, emulating his neo-expressionism style. Ramos has plunked the young artist down on the Left Coast, outfitting him with a surfboard, a puka shell lei, and surfer trunks, a far cry from the Armani suits Basquiat favored after he hit the big time in the 1980s art scene. The title, ‘Same Old Shit,’ is a nudge and a wink on Basquiat’s tag, SAMO.
