In ‘Dali’s Paint Can,’ John Ramos suggests the melting quality of Salvador Dali’s ‘Persistence of Memory’ mixed with René Magritte’s visionary work, as a scene contained in the dented gallon of paint verges on overflowing. Ramos completes the trompe l’oeil effect in the canvas edge and easel, rendering the painted sky barely discernible from the background heavens. Ramos got a kick out of an online French-English translation of ‘This is not a cheap painting’ that resulted in ‘This paint is not good quality.’
